This year is the eighth year the College has sponsored our Belize mission. Tomorrow morning, another group of students, staff, faculty, and friends of the College will travel to Belize to continue our partnership with healthcare, community health, and education initiatives in rural Belize. During that time, over 200 people from the College have traveled and participated in our partnerships in Belize.
Last night, I, Andrew Bolger, shared a meal with some of our closest partners and friends, Walter and Noelia Leonardo. As we talked, I realized how much life I have shared with this family from a community thousands of miles and multiple international borders away. This experience is not unique and a hallmark of our mission work. We partner, support, and engage long-term in the relationships with the Belizeans. We see their children grow up, and they see ours grow-up as well.
As time continues and the Kingdom of God increasingly appears in ways we can discern it, I know that these Belizean friends will continue to proclaim a coming King who will conquer and restore, because their encourage me every time I come as they engage suffering and support their communities. I look forward to introducing you to our friends over the next week and describing the ways God is active before us, among us, and with our Belizean friends.
As we walk into this week, I invite you to meditate with us as we look Jesus’ first sermon, Matthew 5, as our devotional guide this week.
Peace and Grace,
Andrew T. Bolger
