Day 3 Journey to the Center of the World

Today we stood on the Equator.

We stopped by the Mall to get a few snacks and watched a bit of the World Cup with the crowd.

Day 2   Hospital orientations

We oriented to the public San Franscisco hospital and private Christian Hospital VozAndes where students observed in ER and ICU and medical floors. We had an excellent presentation on hand hygiene! A translator was provided since our inservices were all in Spanish. Our nurses did not speak English but we all worked hard to find common understanding.

Day 1

We spent our first day acclimating to Quito’s elevation of 10,000 feet…

Visited El Museo Franciscano within the convent of St. Francis.

Visited the Plaza Grande- Carondet Palace-the seat of Ecuador government and home of the President… Who was visiting with our VP Pence today.😎
Exquisite chocolate tasting at the Republica del cacao.

Buenas Dias from Quito

Good morning friends and family,

The Nurses in Mission Team safely arrived in Ecuador late last night.  After clearing customs and immigration, we were greeted by our generous in-country hostess Diana Yepez.  Although a native of Quito, Diana spent the last several months in Rogers, AR, doing an internship at Camp War Eagle.

Today, we will get acclimated to the city and then head down to colonial Quito. Attached I have included several pictures from the May Ecuador trip so you can see where we are going today.

Peace and Grace,

Andrew T. Bolger
